About the role:

Heatherbrae’s Pies are on the lookout for an energetic and committed Junior Pastry Chef Apprentice who is keen to establish a rewarding career at our Ourimbah store on the Central Coast.

You would be working with talented industry professionals using the freshest meats, vegetables and diary products to produce premium quality foods.

With our Gluten Free Cafe now open, you will have the opportunity to learn the art of gluten free baking as well as the craft of traditional baking.

You will learn:

  • How to put together recipes and cook gourmet pie fillings
  • To prepare a range of pastry types; Puff, Crust, Shortbread etc
  • How to prepare different bread types, white, fruit, banana bread etc
  • To prepare different cakes types, custard tarts, vanilla slice, donuts, sweet pies etc

  • Have the abilitiy to realiably get to and from the work place and TAFE.

About us:

We prepare and bake seven days a week and you would be rostered over a five-day week commencing 5.00am daily. With time allocated for TAFE to learn in a practical classroom environment.

About the role:

We are on the lookout for a qualified baker/pastry cook or a 4th year apprentice to join the experienced team at our Heatherbrae store.We operate 7 days a week so working at least one weekend day per week will be required.

 

Tasks and responsibilities.

  • Prepare quality products following our recipes & yield guidelines according to set standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in relation to OHS/WHS and food safety & hygiene.
  • Ensure procedures, policies and high standards are carefully adhered to at all times.
  • Respectful and professional communication style.

Skills and experience.

  • Trade qualifictions or industry experience in a fast-paced retail bakery.
  • Respectful and mature approach to working in a team environment.
    Ability to work unsupervised when required.
  • While experience with pies isn’t necessary, a flexible & adaptive hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and develop your skills is a must.
  • Hold a Basic Food Handlers Certificate.
